Text: I Samuel 15:22
Obedience is doing the will and seeking to please someone in authority over you. Sacrifice is seeking to appease or cool off the anger of the person you have disobeyed. Disobedience will result in sacrifice, as obedience prevents the need for sacrifice.
Driven by greed, Balaam performed three sacrifices on seven altars rather than choosing to obey God (Numbers 23:1, 14, 29). King Saul was instructed by God to kill all the Amalekites, but instead of obeying, he spared their king and kept the best of all that was good to sacrifice to God (I Samuel 15:3).
God is a God of terms and conditions. His blessings are conditional to you obeying Him. God is a holy God his standards shall not change, His attribute is holiness.
Some little things we do cause us to suffer. When you know the God that you serve, you obey him. You show you don’t know God by the kind of things that you do, The Bible says those that claim to know God but disobey him are liars (1 John 2:3-6, Hebrews 12:14)
You can sing the best songs but if you are living in disobedience he will not accept it. Things will not change unless you obey God. It is better that we teach ourselves how to obey God so that we don’t miss it. Disobedience causes God not to regard the best of your abilities, your sacrifices will be like a life that is wasted (Amos 5:21). There is no point being a child of God and being in disobedience.
Exodus 20:3 says you should have no other God. Your god can be anything you do before worshiping God, it could be that lovely lady you send a message to in the morning before thanking God. God is the author of jealousy, there are gods in our hearts so we have to watch out.
You can have mentors but don’t turn them into gods. Let the spirit that was in Christ be in you (Exodus 20:4). What kind of image do you portray, do you take God’s name in vain (Exodus 20:4)? You kill dreams because you don’t want people better than you to succeed. You kill ideas because you want to “chop” all the money alone (Exodus 20:13, Proverbs 18:21).
People say that the bible only refers to married people when it says don’t commit adultery but it also refers to fornication (Exodus 20:14, 1 Corinthians 6:13-20). People think it’s a normal thing to have sex or to fool around; if not for your sake, think of your child. The Bible says the blessings and the curses will be passed on to the 3rd and 4th generations.
No one says you shouldn’t aspire, but coveting could lead you to changing figures at the office in order to money or sleeping with that man to get that car or house (Exodus 20:17). The Ten Commandments were written by the finger of God, which is a warning as opposed to the hand of God which is for impartation. Who you put before God is your god.
